I'm not asleep ...
Mira knew it was well into the evening, well past the time she actually needed to be at the Ministry, but the outer office in Harry's office suite was quiet in the evenings. Her new boss seemed to stay late often, but he had less visitors as the time passed towards night and it was a perfect place for Mira to study.

That she had access to the Ministry's library and archives was not discounted, either.

But since both she and Harry were there, she kept both their teacups full and warm. Most definitely Chamomile, she thought, the mental image of Harry bent over parchment deep in concentration in her mind's eye. She knew her twin thought she spent entirely too much time bent over a book or parchment herself, but at least her shoulders didn't tense with it and her brow wasn't incessantly furrowed.

Such seemed to be the case with her boss, and Mira had taken to plotting out ways to organize his life a little bit more, make even the small things more of an ease for him.

Like tea. It was something she did anyways, mix the leaves and herbs for the properties she wanted - was part of her field of study, even - but it might help him a little.

After collecting his half-empty mug without his notice, Mira made her way to the tearoom, her ballet flats a quiet pad against the marble floors. There were only a few people present when she peeked in, and she moved out of the way as they passed out of the room.

The only other occupant seemed to be asleep, and though Mira was loathe to disturb him, the book and parchment he'd fallen asleep on was just about to tumble to the floor, and setting the two mugs she carried down, she tried to ease the book and parchments from him without waking him.

Euan made whining noise in the back of his throat as his makeshift pillow of parchment began to shift from underneath his arms. As his head fell onto the table with a soft thunk, he blinked his eyes open, trying to figure out why he was waking up in the tearoom of all places.

Mira's eyes widened. She'd tried to be gentle and not wake him, but the 'thud' was indicative of her lack of success, as was the fact that he was now waking up. "I'm so sorry!" she whispered as she set a hand to his arm, voice quiet despite the fact that she obviously didn't really need to be anymore.

He stiffened slightly as he felt the hand on his arm, but quickly pushed the feelings away. The trainee glanced at the pretty brunette standing next to him. He gave her a bleary little smile. "It's okay," he slurred slightly, the last vestiges of sleep making themselves known. "I probably shouldna be here anyway. Wha' time is it?"

A small smile pulled at Mira's lips as he looked up at her. He was Scottish, if his light brogue was any indication, and he was kind of cute like a puppy all sleep-tousled as he was. The thought made a light blush tint her skin, though her blue eyes sparkled despite. "It's coming on seven."

"Blast." He stood up so quickly that the chair he had been sitting on fell backwards. "I was supposed t' be home an hour ago." Euan began to shuffle through his papers, trying to give them some semblance of order. "They'll just have t' get over it then," he muttered to himself as he looked back at the woman who had woken him up. "Thank ya...?" he trailed off. "'M sorry, but I dinna know yer name."

Her eyes were a little wide again from the sudden movement, but as she looked from the overturned chair up to the the taller man, a smile touched her lips again. "I'm Miranda Montgomery, Harry's new secretary?" she offered, holding out her hand. "I go by Mira though."

He took her hand after picking up the chair. "Thank ya, Miss Montgomery. I know my Gran does. If I'm fallin' asleep in th' tearoom, then I obviously need t' go home earlier, yeah?" With his free hand he tried to smooth some of the hair that was no doubt sticking up.

"I suppose so," Mira nodded, smiling up at him. Despite his efforts to tame his hair, it still stuck up around his fingers. Reaching up, she flicked a bit out of his face before settling back and clasping her hands in front of her lightly.

"Who's Gran is thanking me then?" she ventured curiously.

"My Gran. Mayhap I'll actually make it home in time fer supper or some such. She doesna like it when I'm here late, but tha's when it's quiet. Best time t' study. Or do work." He gestured to his pile of books and parchment. "Which I wha' I was supposed to be doin'."

"It's what I've been doing too. The quiet is nice and the libraries are even better," Mira nodded, and a smile touched her lips again, making her eyes sparkle a little. "I was wondering what your Gran calls you, actually, who she belongs to." Mira bit her bottom lip a moment before her smile peeked out again. "You know me, but I don't know you."

"Oh!" His cheeks reddened slightly with embarrassment. "M'name's Euan Abercrombie. I'm a trainee."

Mira tinted pink as she watched Euan do the same and she was unable to help it, but she smiled up at him anyways. He seemed really nice, and she had the urge to hug him or play with his hair, neither thought helping the blush that bloomed.

"An Auror Trainee, right?" Her eyes widened and she rambled on. "I mean, I just don't know yet. Is there Hit Wizard Trainees too? I've not really met a whole lot of people, and I've studied the organizational structure, but it's not that clear and ..." Her hands fluttered and she dropped her gaze a moment before peeking up again. "Auror, right?"

He nodded. "Auror." To be perfectly honest, he wasn't very sure if Hit Wizards had trainees or not. There was probably was some sort of training process. There had to be. It wasn't like they just set a whole bunch of people loose and those that survived the longest got to be Hit Wizards.

"Auror," she repeated, more for herself than anything. She wasn't slow, but every department of the Ministry had its idiosyncrasies and she'd yet to learn all the ins and outs of the MLE.

"It's nice to meet you then Euan," she said with a little nod before bending to pick up a piece of stray parchment and handing it to him. "I don't want your Gran to be mad that I kept you longer than your nap already did, but maybe we can say hi again sometime?" A blush tinted her cheeks, though she smiled at him anyways. "I don't know very many people yet."

He shrugged as he plucked the paper from her grasp. "I'll already be earlier than normal, so I dare say she'll be happy either way. A minute or two willna do any harm. And ya can most certainly say hi whenever ya like."

She was charmed by his accent and though she didn't actually say the word 'willna', her mouth formed it just to get the feel. Glancing up at Euan, a smile touched her lips as she moved into his space to retrieve the mugs she'd set down on the table. "Hi."

He looked down at her, his mouth going slightly dry as Mira moved close. "Hi."

She really couldn't help the smile that curled her lips, touched her blue eyes. She was quite sure she liked Euan. He was the cuddly sort, she decided, though he was an Auror trainee, so he must be much more than that too.

Retrieving the mugs, she looked up at him again. "I ... I know you have to go, but I was going to make tea ... I could put some in one of the to-go cups, if you want?"

He shook his head, hair falling back into his face. With an annoyed 'huff', he pushed it back away again. "No, no. Tha's alrigh'. I'm goin' straight home. Grams will have a kettle set or somethin'. But it's appreciated. Thanks." He gave her a small smile.

"Okay," she nodded, making to take a step back before pausing and leaning forward to flick the same piece of hair she had last time. It ruffled back with the rest of his mussed hair, and she grinned at him as she moved back a step. "Have a good night, Euan Abercrombie," she said, smiling once more before heading for the tea accoutrements she'd stashed.

He looked down at the table, collecting any last minute papers he might otherwise have forgotten before glancing back over at her. "You as well, Mira Montgomery," he murmured to himself as he moved out of the tearoom and to his desk, readying himself for an early night.
