Simone started as her bracelet burned. She looked at it and read, My manor, half an hour. This hardly gave her any time. She rushed around her office sorting files and returning them to Alice. "Alice, I need you to cancel my first appointment in the morning and get these files to the appropriate Obliviator."
When she was done she looked at her watch and saw she only had about ten minutes. She grabbed her jacket and purse and rushed to the lifts. When she reached the atrium, she speed walked to the apparition point. Thinking of her destination, she felt the tug and opened her eyes as she arrived in the Glorious Mother's walkway. Looking around she saw a couple peacocks and pea hens. She smiled as she walked to the front door, ringing the bell. She always did like those animals.
An elderly house elf opened the door and said, "Madam has been expecting you. This way."
He showed her to an office door and left. She looked down, straightening her shirt and flattening her hair. When she felt presentable she knocked.
The woman known as the Glorious Mother opened the office door and smiled at Simone. "Come in, dear, come in. You are prompt, as always. Have a seat. Would you like some tea?" The tea service had already been set out in preparation of the younger woman's visit and was quickly poured and prepared the way she knew that her guest liked it. "Tell me," she said, sitting down and taking a sip of her own tea. "How did it go with your friend?"
Simone smiled as she was invited in. "Hello, Mother. Yes, tea would be lovely, it is rather cold outside," Simone replied as she shrugged off her jacket and sat down. "Tracey's recruitment is going well, thank you for considering my request." She opened up her purse and pulled out a quill. "Here is your quill. The information you put in the book worked; she is prepared to join." Simone took a sip of her tea. "I don't think she will go back, but just in case she does, I suggest you change your entrance password to the door and the book's title. You never know who we are dealing with." She smiled.
"That's a very good suggestion, my dear. I will do it first thing tomorrow." She took the quill from Simone and rose to place it on her desk. She would put it away in it's special locked drawer after her guest left. She trusted Simone implicitly, but one could never be too careful about these things. "She took the information well, then?"
"Well, she searched for anything concerning Liberi and was so happy to see that we share the same beliefs that she stopped there. I think she was just relieved that the information was what she wanted to hear that it didn't occur to her to search under any different term." Simone said. "I suggest that we move slowly with her as I have only known her a short while and I do not know her all that well." Simone wanted to take small steps with Tracey as she was her suggestion and if anything went wrong, it would be Simone's fault.
"Mr. Keller believes that she is a perfect candidate," the Glorious Mother said, studying Simone's reactions. "I believe he used the word 'ripe', though I fear that he was not really talking about her recruitment. She has already arranged for their next meeting and progress has been made in securing Mr. Nott's family estate for him. Do you think she is jumping in before considering all the facts? Most of our society does, I'm afraid, though luckily none seem to regret their choices."
Simone took a sip of tea while considering her response. "I believe that she wants to help make her beliefs into reality- like us all, but I think she may be rushing into this, yes. Should I reveal my affiliation to this group to her, or do you wish me to stay in the dark?"
"She came to you for help when she wanted to research the Liberi," the older blonde pointed out. "Would learning that your reactions were a subterfuge cause her to rethink her interest? Or perhaps your participation would cement hers." She hummed in thought, weighing the options. "Miss Davis, according to all reports, needs the emotional support of her friends. I believe that your involvement with the Liberi will assure her that she has made the right decision. Tell her however you think best, given the situation."
Simone felt a little relieved at this answer. She did not wish to lie to her friend, but if the Glorious Mother had asked it, she would. She nodded and said, "Yes, Mother. Do you wish me to do anything else for you?"
The Glorious Mother shook her head. "I don't believe so. Just continue what you have been doing, keeping an eye out for witches and wizards of a similar bent. As soon as something comes up, I will contact you."
Simone finished her tea and stood up. "Thank you so much for your time, Glorious Mother. I will let you know if I think anyone else can assist in our cause." The Glorious Mother rose with her and Simone kissed her cheek. Simone smiled as she said, "Be well."
"You too, my dear." The elder woman smiled as Simone left, pleased with how far her young friend had come since their first meeting.
