Quidditch and Canapes...
Though Cormac was running late, he was anticipating seeing Alicia Spinnet in action on a broomstick.  Playing Quidditch.  He'd seen her doing yoga, of course, but Quidditch, that was different. He also wasn't one to turn down box seats to a Quidditch match.  Although, if he didn't leave his office soon, he'd be doing exactly that. He inwardly fumed at himself; at the office on a Saturday!  Disgusted, he threw some files into his bag and got ready to head to the match.

Angelina couldn't believe it. She was in the top box--the Puddlemere top box! And there were snacks! If her father had been alive and with her he'd have been giggling like a school girl over all of this. Angelina made a beeline for the food bar, considering her options. She was becoming quite tired of take-away and her stomach was practically screaming to have some of the unclaimed food before her. Deciding, Angelina made herself a plate with a bit of everything. Well, with a few more shrimp...and a couple more canapes...and  just a few more of those cute little pinwheel things.

By the time Angelina sat down with her overflowing plate, she was very glad that she was going to be spending the game alone. Or at least, she thought she was. She hadn't heard anything from Alicia about it so she assumed she'd be alone. It was all for the better, though. This way no one could see the destruction she was about to lay upon her plate.  Popping a canape in her mouth, Angelina thought that she would really need to do something nice for Ali after all of this.

When Alicia had given Cormac the ticket she had told him she had also given one to Angelina Johnson.  He entered the box to see her downing a canape.  I do like a woman with an appetite, he thought. He walked over to where she was sitting and sat down beside her.  "Angelina!" He grinned. "It's been awhile, hasn't it?  I see you still have your fast metabolism," he said, cheekily.

Oh, bloody hell. Of course, Alicia would forget to tell her that the rather beautiful Cormac McLaggen was going to be joining her in the top box. Alone. With the food. She was going to kill Alicia the next time she saw her. Angelina swallowed her canape practically whole so she could return the greeting, "Cormac! All right, then? Canape?"   She speared a big piece of one with her fork and offered it to him.

Hesitating slightly, Cormac leaned forward and took the bite off her fork.  "Mmm, good, thanks.  So, Alicia didn't tell you I'd be here?  You don't mind, do you?"  He raised an eyebrow. "It seems we have the box all to ourselves."

"Oh no, she seemed to have forgotten that small tidbit. It's fine though." Angelina smiled sheepishly. "I was just hoping to eat the entire buffet myself. But I suppose I can share."

Maybe this surprise wasn't such a bad thing, he certainly wasn't bad to look at. Taking in the man she'd known since Hogwarts, Angelina decided that there was quite a lot she would be willing to share with Cormac. Her bed not being the least of them. But she was getting ahead of herself. First, she had to recover from her rather stellar reintroduction. She hadn't even received a glance in the past few weeks and she was not going to let this one go. He was already eating off her fork, for Merlin's sake!

Giving him her most blinding grin, Angelina turned on the charm, trying to recall any bits of information she'd absorbed about him in passing over the years. "I've heard that someone is making quite a way for himself in the world. How is life in the MLE Department, Mister McLaggen?"

Cormac leaned back in his chair and crossed an ankle over his knee, responding to Angelina's grin with one of his own. "It's good.  Busy.  Nothing terribly exciting, I'm afraid, compared to what you've been doing," he said with a self-deprecating grin.  "I was at the Avalon the other night and I saw your poster.  Looks like you've been doing more singing lately than just serenading your fellow students in the common room," he said, reaching out and patting her knee.

Angelina was becoming increasingly glad that she'd actually put on some clean clothes and had done her hair and make-up before she came. Dance practice had only let out a bit over an hour ago so she'd considered just coming in her dance clothes, as she thought she'd be alone. But now she praised Merlin for that small bit of foresight.

"I only perform there on Friday and Saturday night; you should come see me," Angelina suggested, flipping her wavy hair over her shoulder. "Weekends are wonderful because that's when Avalon has the largest crowd, but the paycheck isn't quite what it could be. I'm looking into some other options to make a few galleons and support my singing obsession. At least your boring job supports you. Exciting is definitely not all that it could be."

"But then I could argue with you that there's more to life than money-but I won't."  He leaned forward towards Angie.  "I think I'd like to come hear you sing. You sing tonight?"

"Only those with money make that argument," Angelina teased with a sly smile, abandoning her plate to give all of her attention to Cormac, there were some things that were more important than free food. "Yeah, I'm singing tonight. If you show up I may have a special song for you."

"Is that so?  I don't think anyone's ever sang me a song before. That might be worth exploring."  He stretched his arms out in front of him, thinking of the files in his bag calling his name.  "Now when's this game supposed to start?"

"I have no idea. Soon, I would think."

Angelina looked out over the Quidditch pitch, noticing the amount of people that had shown up for the game. She was pleased to see that Alicia's debut would be witnessed by a large crowd; the girl deserved her talents to be recognized after all her hard work. Settling back into her seat, Angelina grinned at her companion. Really, Alicia could find some of the best pretties sometimes. Hopefully, he'd come see her sing. She really had been lacking male companionship lately.
