Su sighed. "This is from Theodore," she said handing the letter to Chi.
Her little sister grinned. "Thank you!" Turning she started to leave the room.
"Chi!" She swung around, looking at her with an acceptant attitude. "What did you ask Thedore?"
"Nothing special."
Su frowned at her little sister's obvious lie as she watched her leave. Turning to her mother she said, "What is up with her, Ma Ma?"
Her mother frowned. "Why do you hate Thedore so much, Su Su?"
She grimaced at the childhood endearment. "I don't hate him."
"You act like you do."
"Ma ma!"
Her mother started to busy herself with the paperwork on the table.
"I was just curious... I mean, just so you know, Chi is not going to just let Theodore disappear from her life."
"I know! But why not?"
"Because, my dear Su Su, he saved her. She sees him as a hero -- her hero."
"He was just in the right place at the right time. He is not a hero."
"Chi is eleven. That's how she sees him, Su. You aren't going to change her mind by making things different for her."
"What on earth am I going to do?"
"If you want my advice, then talk to him. Now, I don't know what happened, dear, with Theo, but I do know that you two would so close before. You loved him didn't you?"
"Yes, I loved him, Ma ma. Happy now? I loved him!"
Her mother walked over to her and took her hands. "Then why do you hate him now?"
"Because he's an arrogant liar."
Her mother's face showed her confusion.
"He lied to me. He cheated on me. He's slept with that damned slut Pansy Parkinson why we were still together. Ma ma, I loved him and I thought he loved me, but if he loved me, he shouldn't have done it."
"Su, if you still love him, isn't he worth fighting for? Talk to him. See what his reasons were."
"If doesn't matter what his reasons were. He could have just been drunk and she was readily waiting for him. But it's not an excuse. He cheated on me, Ma ma."
"Su, I love the fact you are a strong confident woman who doesn't take that, but still, if you love him, wouldn't he be worth fighting for?"
Su frowned. "I can't talk to him, Ma ma. The only thing I see and think about when I see him is her."
Her mother reached up and cupped the side of her face in her hand. "Su Su, if you still love him. Talk to him. Don't let a mistake ruin something that might be worth everything."
"He broke my heart--" Chi flew into the room, running over to Su.
"Please give this to the," she said handing Su an envelope. "Don't read it, okay?" Chi kissed her mom and said, "Wan an!"
Su smiled at her sister's back as she ran out of the room.
"Talk to Theo, Su Su," her mother said, frowning at her.
"I think I have to..." Su replied, looking down at the paper clutched in her hand.
"However tempting it is, do not betrayal your sister and Theo bay reading it."
"I won't, ma ma."
Her mother cupped her face. "Ahola wau ia oi nui loa, Su Su."
She smiled at her mother. "I love you, too, Ma ma. I love Chi too..."
"I know, Su Su; she knows. Just don't give her any reason to be mad at you, please."
Su smiled. "We are sisters. We don't need a reason to be mad at each other."
Her mother chuckled. "That is the truth."
"I have to go. I have work in the morning."
"Nago oi nai."
Her little sister grinned. "Thank you!" Turning she started to leave the room.
