You arrived this afternoon
Shifting the large bouquet of flowers in her arms, Reese paused when she caught sight of a stand of owlcards. "Owlcards for the lawyers," she said to herself, tilting her head as she picked up one with a particuarly pretty sunset of London on it.

A smile pulled at her lips when it occurred to her that her lawyer was now Miles and there were promises to keep of coming by at least once a month. "He's probably in his office even, Al," she chatted happily, unconsciously running her fingers over the bag slung at her hip where Alfred's jar was. "And it's so sunshiny and there's visits to be made and I can even give him these flowers to make it all brighter. I think I might have to paint him something too. Too dreary for all the time he spends there."

Purchasing the few cards that caught her fancy, Reese hummed a tune as she looked for an alley to duck into. Slipping around a corner, she waited a few moments to see if anyone followed and then apparated directly into the waiting area for Miles' office.

A small shiver waved down her skin at the cool air compared to the heat outside, and Reese had a moment's realization that she probably had a bit of a sunburn. She knew she'd forgotten something. Sunscreen charms.

Peeking around the very large bouquet, Reese smiled brightly at the secretary. "Is Miles in? He said I could come by anytime, and I've brought him flowers because his office is frightfully dreary." Her eyes lit as a thought occurred to her and she shifted the flowers in her arms again so she could see the woman better. "Would you like some too? There's so very many, and they're happy colors."

Fiona smiled at the little woman who'd appeared suddenly before her and begun chattering. This must be the Miss Ashley he mentioned. Sweet little thing. Reaching out for the flowers, she said, "That's very kind of you. You must be Miss Ashley. I'm Fiona Honeychurch, Mr. Bletchley's secretary. Why don't I put the flowers into two vases while I let Mr. Bletchley know you're here? You're right, they certainly will brighten up the office."

"Honeychurch," Reese grinned, entirely charmed and entertained by Fiona's name. "Like a bumble bee on a Muggle Sunday morning in sunshine yellow."

Shifting the large bouquet to one side, Fiona knocked on Miles' office door lightly before stepping inside. He wasn't seeing any clients this afternoon because he'd been in court that morning and hadn't known how long the proceedings would run. "Mr. Bletchley?"

Miles looked up from his paperwork. "Yes, Fiona?"

"Miss Ashley is here to see you, sir," his secretary replied, lips twitching just slightly as she nodded to the flowers in her arms. "She brought flowers to brighten your dreary office. I'm just going to fetch a couple vases to put them in."

A low chuckle rumbled from Miles' chest. Not quite a month, but near enough. "Very good. You handle the flowers and I'll see to the busy little bee."

As Fiona disappeared from view, Miles rose and walked to the lobby, a smile tickling his lips at the sight of Reese. Her hair was a little windblown, and the pink sundress she wore only made the bit of sunburn she'd acquired look that much more rosy. She was focused on one of the magazines they kept in the waiting area. Something to do with interior design from the looks of it.

"Hello, Reese," Miles said, pulling her attention from the magazine. "I'm happy to see you again. How've you been?"

A little startled, Reese looked up from the magazine with slightly wide eyes, countenance dipping into excited happiness not more than a moment after as her eyes landed on Miles. "I think I'm sunburnt because I forgot the right charms, and I went to the market today because it was so pretty outside," she chattered happily as she moved across the room to wrap her arms around Miles' middle in a hug. "All good things, and I saw dragons too, and I'm here because there were owlcards and I usually get those for lawyers."

Grinning in amusement as he hugged Reese - gently so he wouldn't rub the irritated exposed skin - Miles started them towards his office. Fiona had already placed a vase of colorful blooms on Miles' credenza and it did, in fact, make the room considerably more cheery. "You do look a little burnt. You should put some aloe on your skin before you go to bed tonight." He closed the door behind them and helped Reese into a chair. "So you saw some owlcards and decided to come and improve my day, then? And what's this about dragons?"

Letting her handbag and sandals slip to the floor as she tucked her legs beneath her in the large chair, Reese watched Miles move about the room until he was seated behind his desk.

"Beckett talked of dragons in Wales at the big party with fireworks and I thought it was a great idea, so I went for a visit. Samantha Fawcett from Ravenclaw studies the dragons there and she let me watch dragon sex up close with her." Reese's nose crinkled as she added, "but she doesn't know what shiny sex is, which still needs to be fixed." Her little hands fluttered on her lap, the innate movement that always filled Reese making itself known as her fingers danced patterns across her short sundress and exposed skin. "Then Beckett came because I sent him an owl inviting him to find dragons with me because it was his idea and I got in trouble."

Smiling then, she added, "but it was a grand adventure anyways."

Miles was at a loss how to respond to the varied and surprising bits of information that had just tumbled from Reese's mouth. Dragon sex up close? How close? At least Beckett showed up to look after her. And she doesn't look burned from anything but the sun. Sweet Salazar, this girl needs a leash. "It does sound like quite an adventure," he ventured at length.

Nodding as she quickly ticked back over what else Miles had asked and said, she continued a moment later in her happy chatter. "And today I was at a market in Soho and I had flowers full of sunshine and the owlcards reminded me that you're always in your office and might like some sunshine too," she grinned. Slipping from her chair, Reese lightly padded over to where Fiona had put the flowers and daintily smelled one of the larger blooms.

Bright green eyes found Miles again as she added, "I'm not sure I've got aloe, and I might forget to buy some, but," she tilted her head a little as she thought, "maybe if I send an owlcard right now to Livvy, she can remind me?" Reese moved around the desk until she was dancing just outside of Miles' space, closer to eye level with him sitting in his large chair than when he was standing, and asked, "And do you like the sunshine flowers, Miles?"

"I like them very much," Miles replied with a smile, holding a hand out to Reese as an invitation to sit with him.

Expression brightening, Reese took his hand and settled on his lap. A contented smile played at her lips that Miles liked the flowers, and she watched him as he continued to speak.

"You're right, I am stuck in my office a lot of the time and it's very nice to have a bit of the outdoors here to remind me that they exist." Winking at Reese playfully, he added, "Pretty things are always welcome and appreciated." He pressed his intercom button and waited for Fiona's voice to acknowledge him. "Fiona, would you send a note to Livvy at Miss Ashley's address asking her to procure some aloe? Thank you."

Reese covered her mouth with a hand as a chiming little giggle slipped out. "I'll have to get a pretty for Livvy too. She's going to think she's a bad elf again."

As he turned his attention back to Reese, Miles' face grew more serious, though not overly stern. He was sure Beckett had already scolded her for the dragon adventure, especially as Reese had mentioned getting 'in trouble'. "If you get it in mind to visit the dragons again, Reese, take someone with you, alright? I rather prefer you in one, un-crispy piece."

"Beckett said so too, and I made promises. I'm not allowed to find out if there's a tenth life or not for a Gryffindor kitten by dragon," Reese nodded, expression solemn as she wrapped her hands around one of his as if to enforce her words.

"Good. After all, who'd remind me that there is sunshine if you made yourself a dragon treat?" He added his large, free hand to the top of hers and squeezed. In school, Reese's chattering non-sequiturs had wearied him after awhile. Miles' profession and adulthood had made him more patient, though, and he could appreciate the charm in her child-like view of the world and it's wonders. The lack of jadedness and cynicism was refreshing. Miles wondered if that was what kept Beckett from shooing her away in the beginning, since Beckett was jaded enough for a handful of people all on his own.

"How are you doing on money, love? Do you need to get more out, or do you have enough?" he asked, figuring he might as well see to any business while she was here.

Reese leaned back against Miles as she contemplated the questions he'd asked. She never really prepared for meetings with her lawyers, now single lawyer, and it took a few moments for her to tabulate how much he'd given her last time and what she'd done with it. "I think I'm alright. Living in London doesn't seem to take as much as traveling all around the continent, and I've not gone anywhere else besides Britain for adventures."

Her eyes followed the movement of her fingers playing and winding with Miles' and she added, "sunshine reminders are very pretty, but it's even better outside." Glancing up at him, she asked, "do you want to do an outdoors fun thing sometime? It's like a whole store of bright yellow inside yourself that lasts for a very long time." She titled her head and a smile came to her lips then. "And then I can paint it and you'll always have it."

Miles brought a hand up to pet Reese's hair, allowing her to continue her finger play with the other. Meeting her eyes, he grinned. "Sure, love. We can do something outside if you like." His memory seized on a flyer he'd seen recently, advertising an event that he thought Reese might enjoy. "Actually, I think there's going to be a concert in Hyde Park soon. The symphony is playing some classical pieces, if I recall correctly. If you want, I'll find out when that is and we can go together. I'll owl Livvy with the date and she can help you remember?"

Reese's eyes were hazel, but excitement always tipped them towards a bright green. They were such as she met Miles' gaze and a bright smile lit her face. "Yes, owl Livvy, but I think I might remember on my own too. Music in the park with people and sunshine, and Miles!" Reese shifted then to wrap her arms around his neck and pressed two butterfly quick kisses to his cheek. "I'm excited already, and I'll remember and do you think they'll play anything by Vivaldi? It's perfect summer music with lots of strings and it's like a buzzing bee in the sunshine, but in sound without the buzz."

A rich laugh rumbled from Miles' chest and he leaned down to kiss her forehead. If nothing else, Reese was easy to please, and her joy was contagious. Some Slytherin I am. Undone by a purring Gryffindor kitten. "I don't know, but I'm sure they'll play something nice and summery." He thought for a moment, grin growing larger as the idea came into his head. "Why don't I bring us a picnic? We can stretch out a blanket on the grass and nibble while the music flows all around us, yeah? You could bring your paints, if you want to, and capture all the people."

"Perfect, perfect," Reese repeated softly between the whisper kisses across his face. She settled after a moment in the crook of his arm, content and happy about her day, her visit with Miles and future fun plans. As always though, after a full day plus her most recent excitement, Reese was tired.

"Miles?" she asked, lids fluttering shut as she shifted a bit so she could press her cheek to his shoulder.

Miles' lips twitched as sleepiness crept into Reese's voice. It seemed likely that he'd not be getting much work done for a little while, and he didn't mind much. Securing her against him with strong arms, he leaned his head back into the chair. "Yes, love?"

"Just a few minutes, promise," she replied before her breathing evened out in soft, warm puffs against his neck.

The tired little bit bounced lightly with his chuckle, but it didn't seem to disturb her sleep. Miles gently brushed her hair from her face before resting his head against hers and letting his own eyes close. "A few minutes, then, little hummingbird."
