Parvati kept looking at Ellie's dress where it hung, sure she was going to see something wrong with it. She'd been working so hard on all the dresses that she was beginning to have them all blend together. She was proud of each and everyone of them. She might not be able to touch a needle for a little bit, her hands were cramping up so much, but she was proud of her creations.
She hoped Ellie liked her dress. The woman was nice, almost too nice, and Parvati would hate to disappoint her.
Ellie looked at the coordinates after standing in front of a very nice building. It looked very elegant, much like the woman herself. Parvati lives here?
Shaking her head, Ellie rapped smartly on the door. She couldn't wait to see the dress the woman made.
Parvati pulled the door open, hopefully hiding her nervousness. "Ellie! Hi! How are you?"
"Excited. I can't wait to see it." Ellie followed Parvati into the other woman's workroom. Seeing the dress on the mannequin, her mouth dropped open. "Is that it?" she gasped, taking a few steps forward. "Is it okay if I touch it?"
"Yes," Parvati said, grinning. She was so happy that Ellie liked her dress. "If you like it, it's yours. If not, it's someone elses and I'll be working furiously to get yours done in time." She grinned again.
"Oh, no. It's mine." She ran her hand down the delicate beadwork of the skirt. "This is amazing, Parvati." She turned to face the other woman, throwing her arms around her. "Thank you!"
Laughing, Parvati hugged her back. "Thank you for thinking of me. I wanted to make sure you'd like it. I was worried," she pulled back and grinned. "Silly, right?"
Ellie shrugged. "I get nervous every time I design logos and the such, though granted they aren't like this. But who am I to question your creative process?"
Parvati giggled. "Well, let's get you in it! I want to make sure it looks as good as I saw." She blinked. "Thought. As good as I thought."
Ellie didn't notice the slip up, too distracted by her dress. "I can't wait to get it on."
"Did you want to change in the bathroom, or here? Padma won't be home for a while, so you don't have to worry about her coming in while you're in your unmentionables."
Ellie paused. She had spent seven years sharing a room with other girls, but at the same time, she had her own room for the most of her life. But this was Parvati, she wouldn't say anything horrible. "I shared a room for seven years with other girls, I think I'll be okay. Besides, I don't know if I could get the back zipper." She began to unbutton her shirt. "I didn't think to wear a strapless bra, but I'll try to not let that distract me too much."
"Nonsense," Parvati said, lifting the dress from where it's been held up. "You'll look beautiful. I also know GREAT charms that can help keep your girls up, if you know what I mean." She grinned. "I've never had the problem myself, but I wouldn't mind it. I think you have a great body."
The pair spent the next few minutes wrestling with the layers of fabric. "I feel gorgeous." Ellie looked down at herself. "You lived up to your prediction. Now, I can't wait to see myself in the mirror. Don't leave me in suspense!"
Grinning widely, Parvati flicked her wand at the mirror in the corner, angling it so Ellie could see herself in the mirror. "Take a look. Tell me what you think. I can make any changes if you see anything. It wouldn't take that long."
Ellie's eyes widened as she turned around slowly, taking in the whole picture. "It laces in the back, we didn't talk about that, but I love it." She paused, looking at her bare arms. "I think I will get gloves, so my arms aren't completely bare."
"I thought the laces would make it look more... just more, I suppose. Gloves would go well with it. Black, of course. I think white ones might clash a little bit. Of course, it's up to you." She was pleased Ellie liked the dress. She would have hated to disappoint her.
"I hate to take it off. I feel like a princess." Ellie took one last look at herself. "This is fabulous."
"It's easy for a dress to look fabulous on a fabulous person," Parvati said with a smile. "I'm so glad you like it. I was worried, to be honest."
"You have nothing to worry about." Ellie waved her hand. "I don't know if I'll ever get another invitation like this, but I will be ordering more dresses from you."
Giggling, Parvati grabbed Ellie's hand and spun her about. "I'd love that."
As Ellie redressed herself, she looked at Parvati. "This just confirms my suspision that we have to do lunch."
"You'll learn that I can never turn down food," she said with a grin. "Lunch would be great. It'd have to be after this ball, of course. I think I may sleep for a week before I come out into the world again."
Ellie nodded as they walked towards the front door. "I'll owl you."
