Su dropped down into the chair across from Amy.
"You have the 'I-just-got-laid' look on your face," her friend told her, smiling.
"So what if I have?" Su asked, signaling the waiter. "A glass of white wine, please." She turned back to her friend as the waiter walked away.
"Who was it?" Amy asked, interested.
"Mr. Corner," Su answer, grinning.
"Mr. Corner?" Amy said, puzzled. "You shagged your boss?"
"Yes I did. I shagged my sexy, handsome, fabulous lover of a boss."
"Last time you told me he didn't want to."
"When he's sober, he wants to just fine."
Amy laughed suddenly. "You probably best save the explanation until Lisa gets here."
"You really want to kept in suspense?"
"Suspense about what?" Lisa asked, abruptly appearing and sitting next to Su.
"Su shagged her boss."
"You and Michael finally shagged. Thank heavens. I'd rather not see you mope around any longer," Lisa said as the waiter set down Su's drink. "Gin and tonic, please."
"I wasn't moping."
"Yes you were," Lisa said nodding her head.
Su scoffed.
"Anyway, how did it happen?" Amy asked, taking a drink.
"On our date Wednesday. Let's just say the part in the restaurant was short."
Lisa rolled her eyes. "Do you want to do it again?"
Su grinned. "Certainly. I just wish we hadn't made the deal that we can to keep the office professional."
"Well, that's a good idea. You shouldn't let your personal relationship interfere with your professional one," Lisa said.
Amy looked more thoughtful. "Do you love him?"
Su spit out her wine. "Love? No. Lust after? Hell yes."
"Then suck it up and deal with it," Amy said.
"So sensitive, Amy," Lisa said, put off by her friend's uncharacteristic rudeness.
Amy shrugged and rolled her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Lisa asked, concerned for her friend.
As Amy answered Lisa, Su only paid partial attention. Most of her thoughts were on Michael. It had been hell in the office the last couple of days. She had even went so far Thursday as to not wear a bra, in hopes of changing his mind on keeping things professional in the office. Watching him coming back from his lunch break made her want to lock herself in his office with him. It was killing her to stay away from him during office hours, to not touch him, kiss him.
She couldn't even allow herself to catch his eye for fear of giving into the urge to break their agreement. She had kept herself busy all day, filing useless paperwork and talking to anyone, but Michael. The morning after their first night had actually been hard; she didn't want to leave. She had wanted to stay in bed, or on the couch at it was, all day and just enjoy him.
Pushing aside her thoughts about Michael, she tried to pay better attention to what her friends were saying.
"That's not bad," Lisa was saying, "Being promoted is good."
"I don't want to be promoted," Amy said, sighing.
"What? Why not?" Su exclaimed.
"I just don't want to be stuck in the same lame ass job for the rest of my life," Amy said.
Lisa nodded sympathetically. "You don't have to, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take advantage of where you are now."
Amy sighed. "Right."
"Is something else wrong?" Su asked. She wasn't as perspective her little sister, but she did sometimes catch onto things others would have missed.
"No."
"Too quick of an answer," Lisa said, "Spill it."
Amy rolled her eyes. "Nothing else is wrong. Just my job. In fact, my job is my whole life."
"Ah," Lisa said, "I get it now."
"You get what?" Su asked, raising her eyebrows in questions.
"She's lonely. The woman wants herself a man."
"Oh," Su said, kicking herself for not realizing it too.
"My last date was with that idiot, Robert," Amy complained, "and that was two months ago."
"I can try to set you up with someone if you'd like," Lisa offered.
"A wizard?" Su asked, "Do you think that would be a good idea?"
Amy looked taken back and opened her mouth to say something. Lisa put her hand up, stopping Amy. "No, not a wizard. I know Muggles. And Amy don't get upset. You know the restrictions, laws, and unspoken rules about Muggle and wizard interaction in our world. She wasn't being insulting and you know it."
Amy sighed. "I know."
"Sorry," Su said hurriedly, "I should have been more clear. You're one of my best friends, Amy; I would never insult you like that."
Amy smiled. "I know."
"What about it, though? You never answered," Lisa said.
"Oh. No thank you. I don't like blind dates."
"It won't be a blind date."
"Then who would it be?"
"Andrew McMear. You had a thing for him when you met him at my birthday party. I recently found out he was interested in you as well."
Amy grinned. "Really? Then yes."
"Brilliant! I'll set it up and let you know."
Amy was happy now. She was always one to wear her feelings out in the open. She turned to Su. "So, Su darling, what are you going to do about your man?"
"There is nothing to do," Su said, sighing. "We have to keep it professional. Merlin, why did I have to agree to that?"
"You were stupid," Amy teased.
"Sod off," Su muttered.
"Sorry."
"Su just convince him keeping it professional is a bad idea," Lisa interjected.
"How? I tried the first day. I even went so far as to wear no bra to work and purposely let him know. He ignored it."
Lisa and Amy laughed.
"Try throwing him down on the desk and shagging him," Lisa suggested with a smirk.
"Right. I'm not sure that will work. I'll seem like a complete nymphomaniac or something."
"That's not necessarily a bad thing..." Amy said. "Just don't forget he wants a shag on the filing cabinets while you are at it."
