Hannah put the finishing touches on her costume and surveyed herself in the mirror.
"Lovely," it said. "Just lovely."
Was it odd that she was blushing because of a mirror? Hannah hurried down the stairs. She wished Harry would have been able to go tonight. He was having to hold down the fort at the ministry. All he ever did anymore was work or study. It couldn't be healthy. She was about ready to take a page out of Draco Malfoy's book and hex Harry to make him get some rest or have some fun.
"Harry?"
Harry's eyes darted up to look at Hannah for a second. "Yeah?" His eyebrows furrowed before he looked up at again. Eyes widening in shock, he cleared his throat. "Going out, then? In your knickers?"
"Yes," Hannah quipped. "Because all my knickers have giant faerie wings attached to them. No silly, this is my costume."
Hannah twirled about.
"I'm a faerie."
He nodded. "A faerie who dresses in knickers." He stood, coming around his desk. He wasn't due back at the Ministry until 6, though he'd much rather go to the festival. He hadn't had a chance to see Ginny's clinic yet, hadn't been back to see Mac since they'd gone dress shopping, and Hogsmeade had always held fond memories for him. Mostly.
He put his hands on his hips and surveyed her. "You do know it's supposed to be cold tonight, right?"
"And I'll be in a bakery around magical and real fires. I think I'll be all right, Harry, and stop talking about my knickers. My boyfriend might not like that."
Harry gave her a look that clearly said that he wanted an explanation. "If you think I'm letting you out of this house without explaining yourself, you are sorely mistaken." To prove his point, he flicked his wand at the door to the drawing room and shut it.
"Harry," Hannah said, stomping her foot. "I have to be there soon."
"Then I suppose you have better start talking."
"Oh you're worse than Ernie. What explanation are you wanting?"
"Boyfriend?"
"Oh. Right. Well, you've been so busy. Don't suppose we have talked about that any. Blaise is my boyfriend. Well, he's calling me his girlfriend and there's been kissing and stuff, so... can I go now?"
Harry blinked. "But there was Celine Dion like... 2 weeks ago." He'd suffered because of that man, and now she was kissing him? Girls made absolutely no sense. It was clear. "There was crazy baking and crying and jim-jam wearing... and now you're dating? And wearing knickers in public for him?"
Hannah sighed. "Well, he couldn't resist me apparently, and he was trying to be noble. So cute. He didn't mean to hurt my feelings. Honestly. He only did that other thing because he was trying to get me out of his system because he didn't think us striking up a relationship so soon after Wayne was proper. Only that didn't work. He didn't get over me or anything. Proved by his reaction to Draco hexing me and leaving me in Blaise's bed."
"What?" Harry's eyes were wide, his voice shrill. He cleared his throat. "I mean, please tell me I misheard that Draco hexed you. Please, please tell me I misheard that because if I didn't mishear it, someone is getting the shite beat out of them." There were few things Harry couldn't stand. He couldn't stand cheating on someone. He couldn't stand people pretending to be someone they weren't. And he could never, ever, stand Draco Malfoy. For any reason.
"You two are so funny about each other," Hannah said. "Yes, he hexed me. It was nothing damaging. He was very careful when he took my dress off."
Harry held up a hand. "Stop. Just- Stop talking. The more you talk, the more I feel an eye twitch coming on." He pointed his wand at her. "You're going to need this." He cast a heating charm on her outfit, remembering it from the numerous times Hermione had cast it on him before a quidditch match. He took a step back. "I hate that you like him. And that you see Malfoy at all, you know that, right?"
Hannah giggled as heat infused her body from where Harry had cast it on her costume.
She stepped up to him and put a hand on Harry's arm. "Oh Harry. I think I see a different side of them that you do. Yes, Draco too. He's not so very bad. I know you'll never be friends or anything, but I... I like Blaise. He treats me well. Very well. Like I matter. I like that, and there's other stuff that I know you don't want to hear about."
Hannah grinned. "Unless on your next day off you want to do a girls' night?"
He flicked his wand at the door, throwing it open. "Get out. Get out right now." He rolled his eyes at her grin. "The fact that he apparently treats you well is the only reason why you're being let out in that costume. At least, I assume he won't let anything happen to you. If I'm wrong, he's dead." He shook his head at her. "I'm not kidding."
"Harry, I forbid you to kill anyone," Hannah said with a smile. "It'll make me very cranky. And we are doing something on your next day off, but I'll let you choose what. I was also thinking of throwing you a party when you become a full Auror. I'd make a cake and everything."
Harry smiled. "That'll be two parties." At her look, he sighed. "Ginny and Luna are having something small on Saturday." He rolled his eyes. "Gin said something about 'loose women', but I think she was just teasing." He surveyed her outfit again. "You're going to fall in those shoes."
Hannah snorted. "Harry Potter, I've been able to walk in heels since I was thirteen, and I'll just get with Ginny and Luna and make sure you have one great party."
"I don't need a bloody party." He'd said the same thing to Gin, but obviously it hadn't made a difference. He didn't think he'd convince Hannah of it either. His face screwed up and he took a step back from her. "You could walk in heels at age thirteen? What kind of a Hufflepuff were you? All the thirteen-year-old Hufflepuffs I knew could barely talk and walk at the same time, let alone do it in heels."
Hannah glared at him. "Now you're getting a party. With decorations and a cake with your face on it." Hannah smiled at him sweetly. "Have a good evening, Harry."
Then she made to leave.
Harry took a step forward, grabbing Hannah's wrist. "Hannah-" She turned and looked at him. He dropped her arm and ran his hand through his hair. "Be careful, yeah? I don't- I'm not going to be there and I don't trust the people they have stationed there. I definitely don't trust the company you'll be in. Just-" He rolled his eyes at himself. "Be careful."
Hannah smiled at him before giving Harry a bit of a hug. "You are the sweetest thing. I know this won't make you feel any better, but Blaise and Draco will be there. They wouldn't let anything happen to me."
Hannah kissed his cheek.
"Don't wait up. I might stay with Blaise."
He grimaced. "Ugh." He ignored her giggle and turned back to studying. 15 hours and he was going to be chest deep in testing. Oh, how he'd rather be on the arm of a faerie.{SUMMARY} Hannah gets ready to leave for the Halloween festival. Harry puts on his best big brother vibe.
